How to make iRok2 run faster
Is iRok2 running slow (low frame rate) or pausing and lurching as you play? These ideas may help:
- Install the latest version of Flash: Flash
10.2, the most recent version at the time this was written, has a
number of improvements including security enhancements and better
hardware support for video acceleration. Upgrading to this version
can make a big difference in the smoothness of the game. Go to
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
to get the latest version. It's also a good update for
Macs.
- Set the Game Size to small: Decreases the size
of both the game track and video. Adjust this in the game by
hitting Spacebar (pause), choosing Settings then selecting Game
Size.
- Close other programs: If you're running a lot
of other processes at the same time as the game your computer can
become less responsive and the game may stutter. Problematic
processes may include programs, operating system services and even
other browser tabs. If you use Windows then Task Manager can be
helpful for troubleshooting which process is causing the
problem.
- Restart your browser: Over time your browser's
performance may start to degrade. Try restarting it and then only
open a tab for iRok2.
- Try a different browser: Some browsers seem to
run Flash better than others. Google's Chrome browser, for example,
is quite fast.
- Close the ads: YouTube ads tend to pause the game when they popup within the video. Check out this blog entry for ideas that may help.
