Hey Rokstar! Welcome to iRok2!
iRok2 is a rhythm music game where you play the notes on the screen in time with the music. You can collect and share your favorite tracks, earn fans and coins performing them, challenge and share music with your friends and become the world’s biggest Rokstar!
Getting Started
First things first: Find a track. You can find tracks by clicking on Catalog at the top of the page, or by searching for a song or artist by entering the name in the search bar at the top.
Once you’ve found a track, select the difficulty you want to play by clicking the change button beside the current difficulty (above the Play Now button). You can choose between beginner, easy, medium, hard and harder. You can also pick the mode you want to play: TAP or STRUM (What’s the difference? See How To Play below). For now all you need to know is that you can’t fail on TAP mode, so if you’re a beginner, it’s best to start there.
Got the mode and difficulty you want? Good. Now click the Play Now button to start rok’n!

How To Play
As the music video plays, notes will come down the track in time with the music (the Game Guide below shows the parts of the game). As notes go under the bridge, you need to play them: Hold down the appropriate key for each fret color before the note gets to the bridge. If you are playing TAP mode, that’s all you need to do. TAP the correct fret keys at the right time. If you are playing STRUM mode, you’ll need to hold down the correct fret keys then press the strum button when the notes are under the bridge. You’ll know you hit the notes if they burst into flames!
Customize your keyboard: The Keyboard Keys chart shows the default iRok2 Keyboard keys currently set up for each fret color and strumming. To customize your keyboard, open the pause menu, click Settings and then click Keyboard Setup. From there, click Configure to assign keys to each color and function, and then be sure to verify the keys you’ve assigned by clicking Test. Once complete, click Save. If you want to reset your keyboard to the default iRok2 Keyboard click Reset at the bottom of your Keyboard Setup window.

Now you have the basics. Start your journey to become the most famous Rokstar in the world now by finding a new track to rok in the catalog, or keep reading for more tips on how to play!
Studio
Your studio is your home base. It’s where all your tracks, stats, albums and challenges live. It’s where you can dress your rokr and organize your music. It’s where you go when you want to rok a new gig. We’re currently expanding the studio, so check back for more info in the future.
Energy
Being a rock star is hard work and rok’n tracks requires energy. You can see your current energy in the user bar at the top of the screen. Each time you play a track, you’ll use a little energy. When you run out you can get more energy by waiting a little bit or by getting a Rokstar pick-me-up.
Rokr
You can buy new clothes and hairstyles in the store then put them together to create the ultimate Rokstar look. This is how everyone else playing iRok2 will see you so make sure to make your choices memorable!
Coins & Bucks
When you need to buy things in iRok2, from tracks and clothes to guitars and tour buses, you’ll have to spend some coins or bucks. Coins are earned by playing tracks, gigs and challenges. The more you play the more coins you’ll earn.
Activity Feed
All the tracks you’ve played and the achievements you’ve earned are shown in your activity feed. Challenges, gifts, and personal bests, they’re all there for you to see. Best of all, you can look at activity feeds in other Rokr’s studios and leave them a message or comment on their achievements!
Advanced Gameplay
The harder the difficulty you play, the more notes there are and the more fans and coins you can earn. You’ll also encounter different types of notes. Chords are when more than one note passes under the bridge at the same time. You have to hold down ALL of the frets together to play chords. The lines extending from the back of some notes are called Sustains. The line shows you how long you can hold a note. To get maximum points from the sustain, hold the fret down for the entire duration shown by the line.
Saved Tracks
While you can play any track you want provided you have enough energy, if you want to add a track to an album, you’ll have to save it first. Once you’ve saved a track it will show up in the tracks list of your studio and you’ll be able to access all the extra goodies associated with owning it!
Creating Tracks
If we don’t have a track for your favorite video, you can take matters into your own hands and generate one with the click of a button.
Start by searching for the video you want to play. Below our iRok2 track results, there is a separate list of YouTube videos that we don’t yet have game tracks for. Find the video you want and click the Request Track button. Tracks are usually ready to play within 24 hours. We’ll send a message to your activity feed when your video’s ready to rok.
If you already have a link to a YouTube video you want to play along with, paste the link into the “Already found a video?” box at the bottom of the search page and click Request Track.
Remember, if the video is private or the embed option is disabled in YouTube, we won’t be able to use it.
Albums
Want to organize all the music you like? You’ll need to start releasing some albums. Drag and drop the tracks you want to group together from your tracks into an album, name it then play the tracks in your new album. You can make as many albums as you want, but each one costs coins (recording studio time ain’t free)! We’ve given you one album to get started.
Challenges
You can challenge another rokr to a rok off of any of your saved tracks! Win the challenge and you’ll earn extra fans and coins in addition to bragging rights. Lose and you’ll have to spend more time practicing!
Leaderboards
Battle for the top positions on the Daily Track or the monthly and all-time Community leader boards. Win by playing the best or playing the most. Each top position gets you a cash bonus and unique status icons, but you have to visit iRok2 each day to “claim your fame.”

With the help of our unique browser plugin, you can use most Guitar Hero® and Rockband® guitars to play iRok2. Click here to get the plugin.
We support a ton of guitars, but some work better than others. This chart explains how we support each guitar. We also have detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips on how to hook up your guitar.
Did you know that you can navigate the gameplay menus with your guitar? Press the guitar’s start button to pause or unpause the game, and when you are in a menu, strum up or down to change the selected menu item and press the green fret to activate your selection.
